App setup help

Get the device ready

  1. 1

    Connect the pump tube

Unscrew the water bag cap, keep the tube in the cap, and insert the long clear tube into the right pump port.

Push and twist until snug so water does not leak during watering.

  2. 2

    Install batteries

Hold the base, gently wiggle the cover side to side, and pull up. Insert 2 AA batteries with the correct polarity. Slide the cover back over the base, then squeeze the cover and base together until the device is completely sealed.

Do not pull or twist the metal probe.

  3. 3

    Place the probe

Insert the probe halfway between the center of the plant and the edge of the pot, then press the base flat on the soil.

Point the small tube toward the center root area. Avoid moving the probe side to side after it is inserted.

  4. 4

Fill and hang the water bag

Fill the bag with water and keep the hose attached while filling. Screw the cap with the hose back onto the bag, then clip the bag onto the pot rim behind the plant when possible.

Make sure the hose reaches the bottom of the water bag. If it rides up, push the hose down through the cap until it touches the bottom.

For extra peace of mind, place a waterproof plate or tray under the pot, the same way you would with any watered plant.

  5. 5

Use the lower hook for small plants

For a smaller pot, fold the bag and use the lower hook position to reduce water capacity.

Water bag

Water bag, refills, and water use

How many waterings can the reservoir support?

LolliDrop includes a 24 oz water bag, which works well for everyday use with pots. For longer refill intervals, you can place the hose into a larger clean container, such as a thoroughly rinsed 1-gallon water jug, so the plant has more water available while you are away.

Refill timing varies. These are general watering-capacity estimates, not exact days of use. LolliDrop only waters when the plant needs it, so actual usage depends on plant type, soil, pot material, season, temperature, sunlight, humidity, and whether the plant is indoors or outdoors.

These are general refill estimates, not exact results. LolliDrop waters only when the plant needs it, so refill timing can vary based on the plant, soil, pot, light, season, temperature, and whether it is kept indoors or outdoors.
Pot size Approx. water per watering Included 24 oz bag 1-gallon jug, 128 oz
2 inch ~1 to 2 oz About 12 to 24 waterings About 64 to 128 waterings
3 inch ~3 to 5 oz About 4 to 8 waterings About 25 to 40 waterings
4 inch ~6 to 10 oz About 2 to 4 waterings About 12 to 20 waterings
6 inch ~12 to 20 oz About 1 to 2 waterings About 6 to 10 waterings
8 inch ~20 to 32 oz About 1 watering or less About 4 to 6 waterings
10 inch ~32 to 48 oz Less than 1 full watering About 2 to 4 waterings
12 inch ~48 to 72 oz Less than 1 full watering About 1 to 2 waterings
16 inch ~90 to 160+ oz Less than 1 full watering About 1 watering or less

Estimate method: reservoir ounces divided by approximate ounces used per watering, rounded into practical planning ranges.

Use a larger container when you go on a long vacation
  1. Use a clean, stable container such as a thoroughly rinsed 1-gallon water jug.
  2. Fill it with clean water and place it beside or behind the pot where it cannot tip.
  3. Put the hose end all the way to the bottom of the container so LolliDrop can draw the available water.
  4. Place a waterproof plate or tray under the pot as a normal plant-care precaution, especially when you will be away.
Refill the water bag
  1. Refill when the app alerts you that the water bag is empty, or any time you can see it needs more water.
  2. Unscrew the bag cap and leave the hose in the cap while you refill.
  3. Fill the bag with clean water and replace the cap securely.
  4. Make sure the tubing connected to the pump stays in place and is not pinched or blocked.
How do I know when to refill?
  • The app alerts you when the water bag is empty.
  • You can also do a quick visual check whenever you are near the plant.

App and Wi-Fi

Connection and watering settings

Change network settings
  1. Open the LolliDrop app.
  2. Go to the connect area and start the connection flow.
  3. Select your Wi-Fi network or enter the network name manually.
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi password and continue.

Your Wi-Fi credentials are encrypted and stored only on the LolliDrop device. The device uses them to upload plant updates such as soil moisture, battery, temperature, empty water bag alerts, and watering activity.

Disable automatic watering

Use this when you want LolliDrop to monitor soil moisture and temperature without running the pump.

  1. Go to Plants in the app.
  2. Select the plant you want to change.
  3. On the plant details page, go to Watering.
  4. Tap the enable/disable button so watering shows Disabled.
Adjust the watering range

LolliDrop can automatically adjust watering for the plant type, pot, and soil as the plant responds. If you want finer control, you can also adjust the watering range manually.

The watering range controls when watering starts and when it stops. Lower soil moisture means drier soil, and higher soil moisture means wetter soil.

  1. Open Plants and select the plant.
  2. Go to Watering Range.
  3. Tap the pencil icon to edit.
  4. Change the start and stop percentages.
  5. Tap the pencil icon again to save or cancel the edit.
For most plants, make small changes and give the plant time to respond before adjusting again.

Garden and outdoors

Use LolliDrop beyond one indoor pot

Can LolliDrop be used outdoors?

Yes. LolliDrop is designed for indoor and outdoor use. It is water-resistant and can handle rain and humidity on balconies, patios, and gardens.

Do not submerge LolliDrop or place it where it can sit in standing water.
Vegetable garden and monitoring-only setup

LolliDrop works best for potted plants, but it can also monitor soil moisture and temperature in a vegetable garden.

  1. Remove the clear tubing and water bag if automatic watering is not practical.
  2. Place LolliDrop near the plant you want to monitor, such as a tomato or pepper plant.
  3. In the app, open the plant details page, go to Watering, and tap the enable/disable button so watering shows Disabled.
  4. Use the app to watch soil moisture and soil temperature so you know when the garden needs water.

FAQs

Common questions

How often does LolliDrop water my plant?

LolliDrop does not follow a fixed schedule. It uses the soil moisture sensor to water when the plant actually needs it. Watering frequency depends on plant type, soil, pot, season, temperature, and humidity.

Why is there a red X on the Wi-Fi status?
  1. Check Wi-Fi coverage where the plant is located by loading a webpage on your phone.
  2. Confirm the Wi-Fi name and password were entered correctly.
  3. Reduce interference from walls, metal objects, or other electronics.
  4. Move the router closer or add a Wi-Fi extender or mesh node if the signal is weak.
Why is my battery lasting shorter than expected?
  • Weak Wi-Fi: The device uses more power while reconnecting.
  • Frequent watering: More pump runs use more battery.
  • Cold temperatures: Batteries drain faster in cold environments.
  • Old batteries: Use fresh high-quality alkaline or lithium AA batteries.
  • Empty water bag: Refill the water bag when the app alerts you that it is empty.
Where do I find my plant ID?

Open the plant's detail page, then tap LolliDrop Info over the plant picture. Include the plant ID when you email support so we can find the exact plant.

Can I use rechargeable batteries?

Yes, but alkaline or lithium AA batteries are recommended for longer battery life. If you use rechargeable AA batteries, choose high-capacity NiMH cells. Rechargeables usually have lower voltage, so they may need to be replaced or recharged more often.

Does LolliDrop work with all plants?

LolliDrop works best with potted indoor and outdoor plants. It can also be used for monitoring in larger garden areas when automatic watering is disabled.
